When I joined this course in June 2012 I had pretty much no clue about what I was getting into.

One evening it was a conversation with a friend about Banjara and Counseling course and the next minute I realized I was talking to Kanmani about the admission process. But from then to now it has been one great roller coaster ride. I have enjoyed every session\ class I have attended and every get together I have had with friends I've made at Banjara. The assignments and the practicals has kept me busy and on my toes. There have been a couple boring classes and not so interesting sessions but that has not dampened my spirits. I remember when I met Sonal on Day one she had mentioned that this course helped her learn a lot about feelings and emotions. I kind of didn't believe her then as I thought I knew all that there is to know about feelings and emotions :) Along the way since then each assignment and each case study I found myself struggling to identify the emotions and feelings in myself and the counselee. I can say that I have a fair idea about feelings and emotions now. I can try and understand what my counselee is feeling. Or even what a friend or relative is feeling in a normal conversation. I have learn t to appreciate another human beings choice or preferences without being judgmental. I do get judgmental couple times now too. But have learn't to hold back my thoughts and keep it under control. Having worked in the IT industry for about 15 years all my writing has been purely technical. But these last 8-9 months I have struggled initially and then have been a little comfortable in identifying feelings and emotions and record the same for all the assignments and case studies done. My biggest take away from this course is learning how to be Non Judgemental and How to understand a Teenager \ Adolescent . It has helped me understand my daughter better and not always be edgy with her. There are still areas I need to work on especially in empathizing but hopefully I will get the hang of that too.
