This is for people who are caregivers and who are dealing with elderly people with dementia at home.

Do not stress yourself when a person with dementia asks you a question over and over again... because its so simple that we just need to answer the question which is asked again and again. We need to remember that we are the NORMAL people. If we continue to stress every time they ask something then we are making our own lives miserable. If we show irritation and get upset then we are hurting ourselves, as the person with dementia looks and thinks they are normal but they are not which we as normal people know. So should we not behave and react with love? We can deal with the situation by not reacting with words BUT with a SMILE.

That is all that is needed and the situation in the home and the surroundings will be a happy one.

The person with dementia really does not know what she is doing but there are particular times When we see & think they know everything. but in reality its very sad, think they remember everything as they look healthy n normal. We need to understand that all that they are trying is to be a help to the people around the house, they think they can help, but we know their condition.. So be kind and tell them, “Thank you for asking.if I need help I will call u, now u go n rest”, believe me they will go away with a smile.

I know it is easier said than done but if we practice and we want peace and happiness at home it is workable and I am sure each one of us can behave this way. It not only makes you feel less stressed but you in turn become responsible for keeping your home happy and at peace.
