My experience of doing this online course has been quite interesting.

It was my first venture into doing an online course ,and frankly I didn't know what to expect. But it has helped me a lot ,especially on the personal front .Its taken me on a journey of self discovery ,where I've actually learnt to appreciate the smaller things in life and not dwell on the negative things which pull us down from time to time .I've learnt to focus on my positive points and it makes me feel good to know that I am loved despite my idiosyncrasies . It's helped me in keeping my prejudices in check .I no longer instantaneously label people,I've stopped being judgemental . One of the best things I learnt was about empathy ,how one can connect to another individual without having any relation or even knowing the other . I know I can help by just being a good ,patient listener. A positive stroke can do wonders ...and this has been tested on my own kids . So , on a personal front,it was great . On a professional note ,I felt it's like a teaser or trailer before a film is released .It gives you a fair idea of what to expect in doing a course on Counselling .Nothing can replace a hands on experience .Probably ,had I been in India ,it would've worked out better to get more practical experience . On the mentoring system ,it was very helpful indeed ,especially the feedback on assignments .It helps in thinking from another perspective .but I felt the feedback was a bit too generalised .It would've been better if it would've gone a bit deeper and more explanatory . So ,in summation, the online course helps to give an insight into what actual Counselling is all about .
