Gopal Rao K

Gopal Rao K, Helping Hand volunteerGopal Rao is retired after his meritorious service with the coffee board. He got inspired by a HH advertisement posted in General Post Office which made him think of serving people in need of his efforts as part of the HH team. That led him to join our Helping Hand.

During the times he is by himself, he enjoys reading Spiritual books of Swami Vivekananda, sinking into Lata Mangeshkar’s songs, his favourite singer and catches up on current affairs with newspapers.

He loves savouring sweets and one could spot him wearing light shades of dress that he likes to turn up with always.

Jain V. K.

V K Jain, Helping Hand volunteerHe retired many years ago as a senior banker. Having proven himself professionally and having settled his children, he could have rested on his laurels and enjoyed his pensioner life. But he chose to commit himself completely to the service of people who are suffering not only due to physical ailments, but also loneliness, isolation, anxiety of the future. He spends almost all his weekdays in the giant Manipal Hospital, moving from the X-Ray unit to ICU to various outpatient areas, always with a smile, a suggestion to speed up the process, some guidance about hospital procedures, etc. Age is not a deterrent for this committed young gentleman who has made it a mission to reach out to as many patients as possible, and is in fact in demand by some of the doctors and professionals to give emotional support to patients.
