Wanted Life Skills Trainer for Baale Mane, Bengaluru.

The Baale Mane is a loving home for disadvantaged and abandoned girls which is located just outside of Hessaraghatta, Bangalore. Our focus is on nurturing brighter futures for the girls to enable them to lead self-sustaining independent adult lives. We are seeking to add to our team with the recruitment of a life skills trainer. We are looking for someone with an interest in girls’ rights and empowerment, who has a passion for education and development, can take initiative in their work, identifying the needs of the girls and young women.

Job Title – Life Skills Trainer
Classification – Part-time, 1 day/week on Sunday
Reports to – Manager
Salary – Negotiable

We are looking for a trained life skills teacher to work with girls aged 12 – 22 years at Baale Mane. Specifically she will be responsible for designing and delivering life skill and soft skill sessions on a variety of topics, including: relationships, emotions, selfmanagement, self-care, communication, leadership, identity etc, all with a focus on women and child rights. Sessions will be divided into two or three batches, of younger girls who reside at Baale and young women who stay in the city and visit the home each Sunday. She will be expected to report to the Manager and External Relations Manager, as the programme accompanies a larger system of care that is run across Baale Mane. She will be responsible for documenting the sessions, identifying the needs of the girls and developing the curriculum throughout the year as a response to their needs.

Ideally, the applicant will be:
  • Trained in administering life skills sessions
  • Passionate about child rights, especially issues such as girls & women’s empowerment and education
  • Able to travel independently to Baale Mane every Sunday, and sometimes in a weekday if required.
  • Fluent in Kannada and English.
Ideally, the applicant will have:
  • 2+ years’ experience in life skills training.
  • The ability to guide and mentor young women
  • Excellent written and verbal communication as well as a good level of numeracy and IT proficiency
  • The ability to take initiative in their work
