APD, is looking out for a Director-Technical for their organization based at Lingarajapuram, Bengaluru.

Designation Director - Technical
Reporting to Chief Executive Officer
Location: APD, Lingarajapuram, Bengaluru, Karnataka
Qualification: Postgraduate – Preferably in Medical Rehabilitation, Therapy.
Experience: 12 - 15 years; at least 8-10 years in leading the Rehabilitation Services of a hospital/NGO
Others: Age 40 to 50 years; Woman and/or Person with Disability preferred<


In this role, Director – Technical shall be responsible for providing technical leadership and direction for growth and innovation of Rehabilitation Services, which shall include Early Intervention, Physio and other therapy, Spinal Cord Injury rehabilitation, mobility and Orthotics.

  • Assist the CEO in collaboration with Director Programmes, in Planning for disability specific technical innovation required in programmes
  • Articulate Strategies, support CEO to prepare ‘3 Years Strategic Plan’ and provide strategic direction to all Leaders on ‘rehabilitation services’.
  • Prepare the Operational Plans (and Budgets) aligned with the Strategic directions, Aims & Objectives of the Association
  • Responsible to monitor and govern delivery/implementation of all the ‘Rehabilitation Programs’ as per the ‘Strategic plan/ Operational Plan’ across APD / its RSO Partners.
  • Drive program execution to ensure Service excellence, specifically focusing on Quality and Stake-holder satisfaction
  • Set up Standards and Procedures for all Rehab Program activities and ensure compliance.
  • Formulating budget, evaluate department performance versus budget and takes appropriate action to remain within budget guidelines for all the rehabilitation services work streams.
  • Assure technical competency of all staff in ‘rehab’ / therapy roles across the Organisation (APD and its Partner Organisations). Formulate training plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning
  • Maintain efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols.
  • Ensure appropriate assessment techniques are adopted for assessing all beneficiaries as related to the therapy /rehab are requested
  • Responsible for service delivery quality of all ‘Rehab’ services.
  • Responsible to review / observe and evaluate treatment effects (random sample) and recommend changes to the rehab intervention approach, etc, wherever necessary
  • Interact professionally with beneficiaries and family in the formation of the plan of care - . Identify and address needs of the patients and family
  • Establish technical collaborations and networking at State / National level – to bring in best practices adaption & to continuously enhances the skills of our rehab staff.
  • Coach, Mentor, Guide 6-8 senior leaders and create enthusiastic team working, promote staff morale and performance.
  • Engaging effectively with other stakeholders, viz., Government, NGOs, Domain Experts, Institutions, Corporate Sector & most importantly with beneficiaries – People with Disability (PwD’s), their families and care givers
  • Collaborating with other Senior functional leaders ;engage in high level interactions with APD Board, along with CEO

  • Technical Expertise : Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of all rehabilitation services modalities
  • Domain Expertise –Provide technical expertise in physical an social rehabilitation within community and institutional approaches
  • Lead Knowledge building, sharing and dissemination. Networking with other technical organisations and promoting innovative approaches
  • Strategic - Grasp sector dimensions, Eco-system and lead, guide strategic plans.
  • Leadership- Lead a team of Senior Leaders and manage large multi-faceted operations, functions.
  • Lobbying Skills – Have effective discussions with professional experts nationally and convincing them on the need for technical expertise at local level
  • Training Skills: Effective trainer on disability issues
  • Good negotiation and relationship building skills
  • Strong understanding of Financial Statements-with specific context to NGOs and other support functions viz., Human resources, MIS, IT
  • Effective/Good communication skills –both English & Kannada language, particularly in documenting with a scientific leaning
  • Enthusiastic to work in the community and travel extensively outside Bangalore.
