APD, is looking out for a Director-Programs for their organization based at Lingarajapuram, Bengaluru.

Profile of Director -Programs , APD

Designation: Director - Programs
Reporting to Chief Executive Officer
Location: APD, Lingarajapuram, Bengaluru, Karnataka
Qualification: Postgraduate – preferably in Social Science & Development.
Experience: 12 - 15 years; at least 8-10 years in development sector.
Others: Age 40 to 50 years; Woman and/or Person with Disability preferred.


In the role of Director – Programs shall be accountable and responsible for end to end Program Management -design, delivery, service excellence, leadership development and community impact in specifically Education, Livelihood, Policy Advocacy in disability and the District teams and RSO management.

  • Support CEO to prepare strategic plans and provide programme directions to programme leaders
  • Preparing the Operational Plans and Budgets aligned with the Strategic directions, Aims & Objectives of the Association.
  • Providing thought leadership and innovative ideas for programme growth and development
  • Driving execution of strategy and plans to ensure programme excellence, specifically focusing on Quality, Stake-holder satisfaction and Impact.
  • Setting up Standards and Procedures for Program activities and ensure compliance.
  • Coaching , Mentoring, Guiding senior leaders and create enthusiastic team working, promote staff morale and performance.
  • Day to day functional relationship with Director – technical to ensure the programmes operates with focused quality and team work
  • Engaging effectively with other stakeholders, viz., Government, NGOs, Domain Experts, Institutions, Corporate Sector & most importantly with user partner – People with Disability (PwD’s), their families and care givers
  • Collaborating with senior leadership and senior management team ;engage in high level interactions with APD Board, along with CEO
  • Support in Fund Raising for programmes, developing concept notes and proposals

Key Skills:

  • Strategic - Grasp sector dimensions, Eco-system and lead, guide strategic plans.
  • Domain Expertise –Provide domain knowledge in disability work with exposure to community and institutional approaches
  • Monitoring and Evaluation expertise: Develop programme frameworks, monitoring and evaluation methodologies and tools
  • Strong understanding of Financial Statements-with specific context to NGOs and other support functions viz., Human resources, MIS, IT
  • Leadership- Lead a team of Senior Leaders and manage large multi-faceted operations, functions.
  • Advocacy and lobbying Skills – Have effective discussions with Senior Officials in the Government, NGOs, Corporate Sector and Civil Society leaders
  • Good negotiation and relationship building skills
  • Resource Mobilisation from multiple sources
  • Effective/Good communication skills –both English & Kannada language
  • Enthusiastic to work in the community and travel extensively outside Bangalore.
