APNALAYA, invites application from committed development professionals for the following position(s):

Counsellor – 2(two) Positions (Mumbai)

The Counsellor will be responsible to provide a safe and supportive space for children and their parents to discuss their concerns and fears with a trusted professional. He/she will explore ways to help the children and their families cope better with their situation in disability or employability or gender related issues. Develop individual education plans based on children’s strengths and limitations. Interview the family members to recommend needed measures and strategies for their children growth and development. Provide confidential, culturally sensitive and need based counselling. Address community groups, intervention staff and other stakeholders to explain available counselling services. Develop and prepare reports for counselling interventions and processes undertaken. Provide guidance, mentor and support other intervention staff with respect to interaction. Periodically share reports, stories of success and challenges with the Organization. Contribute and participate in child protection committee meetings on safeguarding policies.

 

Qualifications and Specification:

  • A Master’s Degree in Counseling or Psychology with a minimum 5 years’ experience in the social sector out of which 3 years of work experience in disability issue is preferred. Excellent empathy, patience and listening skills.
  • Proficiency in English with excellent writing skills and proficiency in spoken Hindi is a pre-requisite.
  • Computer proficiency in MS-Office. Excellent written and communication skills.

 

Reporting:
The person in this position reports to the Programme Manager on a regular basis. The position holder will be engaged on full time basis.
