Job description: Speech and language therapist

Job type: Part-time (Two visits in a week, full day).

Location: HSR Layout, Bengaluru.

Salary: Day visit based.

Job Profile:
  • Undertaking child’s assessments.
  • Planning and providing appropriate treatment.
  • Communicate with child to evaluate their levels of speech or language difficulty.
  • Determine the extent of communication problems by having child’s complete basic reading and vocalizing tasks or by giving standardized tests.
  • Giving advice and support to child’s family members and teachers.
  • Teach alternative communication methods, such as sign language to child with little or no speech capability.
  • Work with child to improve their ability to read and write correctly.
  • Work with child to develop and strengthen the muscles used to swallow.
  • Counsel child and families on how to cope with communication disorders.
  • Maintaining records and case notes.
  • Liaising with doctors, physiotherapists, teachers and family members and carers and performing controlled therapy sessions with individuals, groups and/or families.

Knowledge of local language, Kannada, is a must.
